School Home Support

School Home Support: Jenny Soyode azcodfcgpylv30k

I am employed by a charity called School Home Support to provide practical and emotional support for the children and their families of SPSL to that they can get the most from the educational opportunities on offer.

What I do on a daily basis to facilitate this varies depending on the current need and the referrals I receive. Some of the work I have undertaken includes helping parents with their money and debt problems, housing application, relationship issues, school transfer application and sign posting them to other external organizations.  I have offered advice on preparing children for school; suggested ways parents can raise their children’s educational attainment and led parents through the principles of established parenting programmes. As a link between home and school, I have attended meetings and panels between the school and parents to offer additional support.

Parents can and do ask for my assistance directly and sometimes the School refer families to me. I am happy to help find solutions to whatever issue a family of the school is facing.

In addition, various events and activities are arranged in school to inform parents about ways to help their children and how we teach certain subjects. Relevant year groups will be informed and such events are always advertised in the weekly newsletter.
