St Paul's Bow Common

OUR SCHOOL AND OUR CHURCH

The school and the church have a close and special relationship.

Mother Bernadette is the vicar at St Paul's Bow Common, the church that our school is attached to.   She loves leading collective worship at our school and helping children with their reading.

We love to go to the church for special services such as Harvest, the Y2 Nativity performance at Christmas, Easter and the Y6 leavers performance in July.

The church is a really special place inside and our children enjoy visits and guided tours of the church led by Mother Bernadette.  There are some wonderful mosaics and a lovely glass 'lantern' (like a tower) on top of the church building which lets lots of beautiful light into the space below.

Mother Bernadette is a governor of the school and has a special interest in how the school supports children with SEND and the teaching of RE.  She comes to parents' coffee mornings and school events such as the Christmas and summer fairs.

At the start of each new school year in September, Mother Bernadette walks around our school and blesses all the rooms with holy water.  This is a special moment which makes us feel spiritual.
